This year's PPSA Yacht Regatta is to be preceded by the inaugural Chris Moyse Memorial Pursuit race.
A fun race being run from the Plym Yacht Club's start box.
Chris Moyse is well known throughout the port. He held post as the PPSA treasurer for many years as well as supporting several sailing clubs around the port.
Sadly he unexpectedly passed away in 2017 leaving huge voids in the organisations that he served.
As a mark of respect and remembrance for all of his services to sailing in the port the PPSA are arranging to get the 2018 Yacht Regatta underway by running a fun pursuit race on the Friday evening prior to the start of the regatta.
This race is open to all yachts, not just regatta entries, so you do not need to have a regatta entry to join...we'd really love it if you did also carry on to compete in the regatta over the weekend but it is not mandatory to do so.
For those that do continue to race the regatta any points gained in the race for Chris will not count for the rest of the regatta.
Entry is free and it is hoped that all yachts will turn out for this event.
Free berthing will be available at Yacht Haven immediately following the race so that all competitors can visit the regatta marquee for the prize giving and raise a glass to Chris.
